Cover(S), Engine Timing: Installation

- Clean the engine timing cover and engine block surface.NOTE:
Always install a new gasket when servicing the engine timing cover.
- Verify that the engine timing cover slide bushings (1) remain located in the engine timing cover.
- Using a new gasket, install the engine timing cover and tighten the retaining bolts to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.).NOTE:
The large lifting stud is torqued to 55 N.m (40 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the large lifting stud to 55 N.m (40 ft. lbs.).
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Install the oil pump pickup tube (2) and the oil pan. Refer to OIL PAN INSTALLATION .
- Install the heater hose onto the water pump.
- Install the lower radiator hose (2) onto the water pump (1).
- Assemble the (special tool #10387, Installer, Vibration Damper) as follows:
- Install the threaded shaft (1) onto the crankshaft (3) till its seated.
- Position the crankshaft damper onto the crankshaft.
- Install the thrust washer.
- Install the roller bearing onto the threaded shaft making sure the hardened bearing surface is facing away from the crankshaft.
- Install the washer.
- Install the nut onto the threaded shaft.
- Install the vibration damper (2). Refer to DAMPER, VIBRATION, INSTALLATION .
- Install the generator (1). Refer to GENERATOR, INSTALLATION 6.4L

- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to COMPRESSOR, A/C, INSTALLATION
.
- Position the power steering pump, align the pump (1) with the mounting holes on the engine.
- Install the three power steering pump mounting bolts (2) through access holes in the pulley and tighten to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.).
- Install idler pulley.
- Install the water pump. Refer to PUMP, WATER, INSTALLATION 5.7L/6.4L
.
- Connect the camshaft position sensor electrical connector (1).
- Connect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector (2).
- Install the upper radiator hose (1).
- Install the A/C line support bracket (2). Tighten the bolt (1) to 20 N.m (15 ft. lbs.).
- Fill the cooling system with the specified type and amount of engine coolant. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Fill the crankcase with the specified type and amount of engine oil. Refer to OIL .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Install the engine covers.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
