Clean and inspect the threads in the cylinder block and heater element.
Coat heater element threads with Loctite® 572 thread sealer.
Screw engine block heater (1) into engine block and tighten to 40 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).

Connect block heater power cord (3).
Fill cooling system with recommended coolant. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Connect the negative battery cable.
Start and warm the engine.
Check block heater for leaks.
