Removal And Installation: 1.3L: Installation

  1. Install the PCM with shield (1b) and securely tighten the fasteners (1a).

  2. Position the battery wiring in the working area and close the retaining clips (3).
  3. Connect the ground wire (2b) and fastener (2a) to the PCM.
  4. Connect the PCM wire harness connectors.

  5. Install the pressurized coolant bottle (1b) and engage the lower fastener.
  6. Engage the upper fasteners (1a) to the pressurized coolant bottle (1b).
  7. Install the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an IBS, connect the IBS connector.
  9. If this Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new PCM. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
  10. Select the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu in PCM.
  11. Select and perform the "replacement unit" routine.
  12. With key in the OFF position and with the hazard lights turned ON, go to " BCM", select the "miscellaneous functions" menu and then perform the "transfer secret key" routine.
