  1. Install the PCM to the bracket.
  2. Secure the PCM using fasteners.
  3. Connect the PCM harness connectors (1 and 2) to the PCM.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
    NOTE:

If the original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and original vehicle mileage is not programed into the PCM, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set.

  5. If installing a new PCM, use a diagnostic scan tool to reprogram the new PCM with the vehicles original VIN and mileage. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
NOTE:

If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to determine if alignment of the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU is needed. If PROXI alignment is needed, follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
