Removal And Installation: Removal
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE

- Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the oxygen sensor upstream of the catalyst.
- Disengage the oxygen sensor wire harness (1), remove the screw and the bracket.
- Remove the screws (2) and remove the exhaust manifold upper heat shield (2).
- Remove the screws (1) and remove the heat shield (1) below the exhaust manifold.
- Disconnect the knock sensor wire harness connector (1).
- Remove the knock sensor screw (2), then remove the knock sensor.
