2.0L Cooling System: Engine: Thermostat: Removal

CAUTION:

The Thermostat and housing is serviced as an assembly. Do not remove the thermostat from the housing. Damage to the thermostat may occur.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING .

Remove the upper radiator hose (1) from the thermostat housing (2).
Remove the coolant hose (3) from the thermostat housing (2).

Remove the screws (2) and the thermostat housing (1).

Remove and discard the thermostat housing gasket (1).
