Turbocharger System: Description
The low temperature cooling system is made up of the following:
- Low Temperature Radiator (LTR)
- LTR pump
- LTR Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS)
- Charge Air Cooler (CAC)
- Coolant
The LTR coolant pump is utilized to circulate engine coolant in the low temperature circuit to cool down the intake CAC. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls the LTR pump speed through Local Interface Network (LIN) to maintain intercooler coolant temp so that charge air temperature remains within an allowable range for engine functionality at high limits and CAC condensation at low limits. The low temperature cooling system and the engine cooling system are completely integrated and share a common coolant reservoir.
