Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager and 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:

Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE:

Take the proper precautions to protect the face of the Integrated Center Stack (ICS), center bezel and the instrument panel trim from cosmetic damage while performing this procedure.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.

  2. Using trim tool or equivalent, carefully pry up on the edges of ICS (1) to disengage retaining clips. Disconnect the Electronic Shift Module (ESM) and ICS wire harness connectors.
