The Power Distribution system:
- Provides battery voltage and a return ground path for various vehicle electrical and electronic systems and components
- Employs the following components:
- Battery
- Power Distribution Center (PDC) (2)
- Body Control Module (BCM) (1)
- Vehicle ground locations
- Battery Fuse Terminal (BFT)
The PDC:
- Is mounted under the hood in the drivers' rear corner of the engine compartment. It consists of three components:
- The cover (1)
- The PDC tray for the fuses and circuit breakers (2)
- The PDC base or bucket for the PDC tray (3)
- It connects to the Battery Fuse Terminal (Pre-Fuse) with a single cable.
- It contains relays, circuit breakers and fuses that provide power to the circuits to operate systems in the vehicle.
- The wire harnesses connect to the bottom of the PDC.
It includes the following:
- Circuit breaker
- Small Slow-blow cartridge fuses
- Large Slow-blow cartridge fuses
- Micro fuses
- Large cartridge fuse
- Maxi fuse
- Micro 3 fuses
The BCM:
- Is located behind the instrument panel above the left kick panel.
- Receives hardwired input from sensors and switches
- Provides logic and output control of certain electrical systems
- Provides load shedding logic and control
- Acts as the central module for the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus
- Supports flashing (reprogramming) of itself as well as other Electronic Control Units (ECUs) on the CAN-bus network
- Stores vehicle configuration data (PROXI)
The PIM:
- The inverter module is located beneath the drivers front seat.
- The inverter module provides A/C power for user accessories.
- The inverter converts the 12 Volt DC from the battery system to a 110 Volt AC output.
