Coil Spring

REMOVAL 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Support the axle assembly with an appropriate jack.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Disconnect both the left and right stabilizer bar links from the axle. Refer to LINK, STABILIZER BAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the front brake hose upper bolt and disconnect brake line bracket from frame the rail to provide slack.

  6. Remove the front shock absorber lower nut and bolt. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
    NOTE:

    Do not lower the axle further than the brake hose slack allows.

  7. Lower the axle until the spring is free from the upper mount.
    NOTE:

    Rotation of the spring and prying down slightly on the axle will aid in removal.

  8. Remove the coil spring.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
