Sunroof Or Sunshade Obstacle Detection Override

The single and dual pane sunroofs have an obstacle detection system that will automatically reverse the sunroof if an obstacle is in the roof opening during close operation. In the event that the sunroof is reversing but no obstacle is present in the roof opening the obstacle detection system can be overridden to complete the close operation using the following procedures:

SINGLE PANE SUNROOF 

- There are two methods for overriding the obstacle detection system of the single pane sunroof. If sunroof is often experiencing auto-reversals but no obstacle is present in roof opening follow procedure SUNROOF INITIALIZATION & OBSTACLE DETECTION CALIBRATION to recalibrate the obstacle detection system.

• OVERRIDE - METHOD 1  - Press and hold the sunroof CLOSE switch. Obstacle detection is not active during manual (press & hold switch) operation of the sunroof or power sunshade.
• OVERRIDE - METHOD 2  - If the sunroof auto-reverses three consecutive times during express close operation (press & release switch auto operation), the obstacle detection system will enter override mode. Express operation will be disabled while the obstacle detection system is in override mode. Press & hold the sunroof CLOSE switch to complete the close operation of the sunroof. The obstacle detection system override mode will automatically be exited once the sunroof is fully closed or the vehicle ignition is cycled off and back on.

DUAL PANE SUNROOF 

- There are two methods for overriding the obstacle detection system of the dual pane sunroof if the sunroof or sunshade is experiencing auto-reversals but no obstacle is present in the roof opening. If sunroof is often experiencing auto-reversals but no obstacle is present in roof opening follow procedure SUNROOF INITIALIZATION & OBSTACLE DETECTION CALIBRATION to recalibrate the obstacle detection system.

• OVERRIDE - METHOD 1  - Press and hold the CLOSE switch of the sunroof or sunshade during the initial close operation, continue to hold the switch during the reversal and for 2 seconds after the reversal stops. The sunroof or sunshade obstacle detection system will enter override mode; release the CLOSE switch. Express close operation (press & release switch auto operation) will be disabled while the obstacle detection system is in override mode. Press & hold the CLOSE switch to complete the close operation of the glass/sunshade.
• OVERRIDE - METHOD 2  - If the sunroof or sunshade experiences an auto-reversal event three consecutive times the obstacle detection system will enter override mode. Express close operation (press & release switch auto operation) will be disabled while the obstacle detection system is in override mode. Press & hold the CLOSE switch to complete the close operation of the glass/sunshade.

EXITING OVERRIDE MODE  - The obstacle detection system override mode will automatically be exited once the sunroof or sunshade is fully closed or the vehicle ignition is cycled off and back on.
