Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Remove the DLC connector (1a), remove the screws (1b), nut (1c), the upper bracket bolt and remove the brackets (1d) from the Body Control Module (BCM).

  4. Disconnect the BCM wire harness connectors (1) on the front of the BCM.

  5. Using a suitable tool, release the retainer (1a) and then release the pin (1b) from the bracket (1c).
  6. Turn the BCM (2a), release the retainers (2b) and move the BCM to access the wire harness connectors on the back of the BCM.

  7. Disconnect the wire harness connectors (1) from the back of the BCM.
  8. Remove the BCM from the vehicle.
