Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

NOTE:

If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the liftgate sill plate. Refer to PLATE, SCUFF, LIFTGATE SILL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the spare tire and wheel.
    NOTE:

    It is not necessary to remove the rear quarter trim completely. Set aside to gain access to the PLGM.

  4. Position aside the left rear quarter trim. Refer to PANEL, QUARTER TRIM, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  5. Disconnect the two Power Lift Gate Module (PLGM) wiring harness connectors (3).
  6. Depress the latch feature (1) of the PLGM housing and pull the PLGM (2) out and away from the body.
  7. Remove the PLGM (2) from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Install the PLGM and connect the wiring harness.
  2. Install the rear quarter trim. Refer to PANEL, QUARTER TRIM, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Install the liftgate sill plate. Refer to PLATE, SCUFF, LIFTGATE SILL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Install the spare tire and wheel.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
