REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Anytime the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) is mounted on the steering column the steering shaft must be kept from turning or else SCCM damage will occur. Some vehicles do not have an internal lock mechanisms, so the steering column shaft must be preventing from rotating through use of a suitable tool.
- Secure the steering wheel to prevent it from turning.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 5.7L .
- Remove the clean air hose. Refer to HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 5.7L

1 - Upper Steering Column Shaft Coupling Pinch Bolt - Remove and DISCARD
the upper steering column shaft coupling pinch bolt.
1 - Lower Steering Column Shaft Coupling Pinch Bolt - Remove and DISCARD the lower steering column shaft coupling pinch bolt.
- Remove the steering column shaft coupling from the steering gear shaft.
INSTALLATION
During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle.
