3.0L Pcm Programming - Flash Updating

This procedure is required when one or more of the following situations are true:

• An updated calibration or software release is available for either the PCM or Transmission Control Module (TCM).

This procedure assumes that the scan tool is properly configured to the dealership network with either a wired or wireless connection. For help on how to network the scan tool, use the "Help" tab at the top of the diagnostic application.

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE  - Using the scan tool:

1. Generate a scan report from the PCM.
2. Connect a battery charger to the vehicle to maintain adequate system voltage during the flash update.
3. Flash the PCM - If multiple calibrations are available, consult the scan report from the original PCM to determine the correct calibration part number.
4. Navigate back to the home screen and select "PCM"
5. Perform the following routines if applicable
   • Cam Crank Relearn
   • Clear Misfire TLC
   • Clutch pedal position sensor learn
   • EGR Valve Replaced
   • Learn ETC
   • Check PCM Odometer
   • Learn Gear Shift Sensor
   • Brake Pedal Calibration Learn
   • Fuel Adaptive Parameter Reset
   • GSE Injector Adaptation
6. Verify the vehicle starts and runs.
7. Run Guided Diagnostic PROXI Configuration Alignment to write vehicle configuration to the PCM.
8. Clear any DTCs.
9. Road test vehicle to learn Adaptive Numerator.
   NOTE:

   Due to the PCM/TCM programming procedure, a DTC may be set in other ECUs within the vehicle. Some DTCs may cause the MIL to illuminate. From the "Home" screen select "System View". Then select "All DTCs". Press "Clear All Stored DTCs" if there are any DTCs shown on the list. 

10. Verify that no DTCs have set.
