Removal And Installation: Flywheel: Notes

REMOVAL

Follow practices prescribed by appropriate regulations for the handling, processing and disposing of dust and debris.

  1. Remove clutch pressure plate and disc. Refer to DISC, CLUTCH, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
    NOTE:

    Typical installation of 10272 shown.

  2. Install the special tool # 10272, (Flywheel Locking Tool).
    NOTE:

    It may be necessary to install an appropriate length 10 MM bolt, washer and nut in place of the supplied 12 MM fastener.

  3. While holding the flywheel against the engine, remove and DISCARD  the bolts holding the flywheel to the crankshaft flange.

  4. Remove the flywheel (2) from the crankshaft.

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
