Left Hand Drive: Notes
REMOVAL
NOTE:
The steering column on some vehicles may not be equipped with an internal locking shaft that allows the ignition key cylinder to be locked with the key. Alternative methods of locking the steering wheel for service should be used.
- Place the front wheels in the straight ahead position with the steering wheel centered and secured.
- Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the two power steering lines from the steering gear.
1 - Shaft Nut 2 - Power Steering Lines - Disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Refer to SHAFT, INTERMEDIATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the pitman arm from the steering gear. Refer to ARM, PITMAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the four steering gear bolts.

INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
NOTE:
The two long bolts go to the front and the two shorter bolts go to the rear.
- Apply threadlocker to the steering gear bolts.
- Perform the wheel alignment procedure. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
