Theory Of Operation

The Brake System Control Module (BSCM) has detected a invalid signal or out of range during a "Apply and or Release" actuation. The parking brake switch has 3 positions; Apply (pulled up), Release (pushed down) and Neutral. The BSCM module sends voltage to the parking brake switch and this voltage returns along one of three circuits. An open, excessive resistance or a short in the parking brake switch circuits or the parking brake switch causes the BSCM to set a DTC.
