DTC P0601: Engine Control Module (ECM) Check Sum Error, Or DTC P0604: Engine Control Module (ECM) Ram Error: Procedure

  1. . Check continuity of ECM B+ fuse (10-amp) in passenger compartment fuse box. If either fuse is blown, locate and repair short to ground in appropriate wire, then replace fuse. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Backprobe and measure voltage between ECM harness connector terminal No. 26 (Pink wire) and ground. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, replace ECM. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  3. Check open in Pink wire between ECM and passenger compartment fuse box. Inspect connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair wiring harness and appropriate connector as necessary.
