After-Repair Procedures
- After repair, erase all diagnostic trouble codes stored in the ABS control unit with Kia power scan. (Refer to scan tool operating manual).
- Verify that no diagnostic trouble codes are displayed.
- Remove scan tool from the data link connector.NOTE: If scan tool is not available, erase the diagnostic trouble code(s) from ABS control unit by, performing the following:
- With the ignition switch OFF, jumper engine compartment data link connector (DLC) pin "h" and "s. See Figure .
- Turn ignition switch ON
- Ground DLC pin H (brake switch) 8 times in 10 seconds to erase stored DTCs as follows:
- If the brake switch input doesn't change (ON --> OFF) within 3 seconds of grounding DLC pin H, or, the brake input signal change doesn't change within 1 second, diagnostic trouble code display mode will continue. Also, if the vehicle speed is (Max.) 6.2 MPH (10 km/h), normal ABS mode operation will resume.
- After diagnostic trouble code(s) are erased, if there is still a problem in the system, the ABS warning lamp will remain ON. If this occurs, repeat the previous procedure to retrieve trouble codes.
