After-Repair Procedures

  1. After repair, erase all diagnostic trouble codes stored in the ABS control unit with Kia power scan. (Refer to scan tool operating manual).
  2. Verify that no diagnostic trouble codes are displayed.
  3. Remove scan tool from the data link connector.
    NOTE: If scan tool is not available, erase the diagnostic trouble code(s) from ABS control unit by, performing the following:
    1. With the ignition switch OFF, jumper engine compartment data link connector (DLC) pin "h" and "s. See Figure .
    2. Turn ignition switch ON
    3. Ground DLC pin H (brake switch) 8 times in 10 seconds to erase stored DTCs as follows:
    4. If the brake switch input doesn't change (ON --> OFF) within 3 seconds of grounding DLC pin H, or, the brake input signal change doesn't change within 1 second, diagnostic trouble code display mode will continue. Also, if the vehicle speed is (Max.) 6.2 MPH (10 km/h), normal ABS mode operation will resume.
    5. After diagnostic trouble code(s) are erased, if there is still a problem in the system, the ABS warning lamp will remain ON. If this occurs, repeat the previous procedure to retrieve trouble codes.
