Check Condition

  1. In case of using the Hi-Scan, connect the cable at DLC terminal as shown in illustration and adjust the idle speed with it.

  2. In case of not using the Hi-Scan, perform the following procedure.
    1. Ground the ignition timing adjustment terminal with jumper wire.

    2. Install the tachometer and timing light.
    3. Run the engine and let it idle.
    4. Check the basic ignition timing.

      Basic ignition timing: 10° +/- 5° BTDC at idle

    5. To check idle speed, be sure to stop grounding the ignition timing adjustment terminal.
    6. Let the engine idle for 2 minutes.
    7. Check the idle speed.

      Idle speed: 700 +/- 100 rpm

      NOTE:
      • The engine speed on a new vehicle driven less than 500 km (300 miles) may be 20 to 100 rpm lower than specification. But no adjustment is necessary because Idle Speed Control System adjusts automatically.
      • If the engine stalls or the engine speed is low after the vehicle has been driven a distance of 500 km (300 miles) or more, it's possible there may be residue on the throttle plate. See THROTTLE BODY CLEANING .
