Component Inspection
Check Spark Plugs
- Remove all spark plugs.
- Visually/physically inspect the following items:
- Check if the spark plug for the relevant cylinder is lighter in color than the other plugs
- Oil or fuel fouled/damaged insulation/worn electrodes
- Loose terminals and cracks
- Check the plug gap: 1.0-1.1 mm (0.039-0.043 in.)
- Was a problem found in any of the above areas?
YES
- Test with a new spark plug and check for proper operation. If problem is corrected, replace it.
And go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
NO
- Go to "Check Spark Plug Cables" procedure.
- Test with a new spark plug and check for proper operation. If problem is corrected, replace it.
Check Spark Plug Cables
- Remove all spark plugs.
- Visually/physically inspect the following items:
- Damage, cracks and flashover
- Measure the resistance of the spark plug cables.
- Specification: Approx. 9.6~22.4 kΩ/m (3.28 ft) at 20°C (68°F)
- Is the displayed value within the specified value?
YES
- Go to "Check Injector for Blockage or Fuel Leakage" procedure.
NO
- Test with a new spark plug cable and check for proper operation. If problem is corrected, replace it.
And go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
Check Injector for Blockage or Fuel Leakage
- Check injector for blockage or fuel leakage.CAUTION: Be sure to reduce the fuel pressure before disconnecting the injector, otherwise fuel will spill out.
- Is there a problem?
YES
- Test with a new injector and check for proper operation. If problem is corrected, replace it.
And go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
NO
- Go to "SYSTEM INSPECTION " procedure.
