A/C - Defrost Logic

SERVICE TIP:
Starting with 4/29/02 production, the A/C defrost logic on Spectra can be switched from the defaults that automatically engage A/C when "Defrost" or "Floor- Defrost" is selected and automatically return to fresh air when the vehicle is restarted or defrost is selected. (Note: the ability to cancel this logic has been available on Sedona and will be on Sorento) To cancel the default defrost logic, follow the steps below.
1. Turn the blower switch to the "Off" position.
2. Turn the mode switch to the "Defrost" position.
3. Hold the "A/C" button down and press the "REC" button five times within three seconds.
4. The "REC" button will flash three times in one half second intervals.
5. To return to the factory defaults, repeat steps one through four.
Note: Whenever the battery is disconnected or discharged, the system will return to the factory defaults.
