P0133: O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 1/Sensor 1): DTC Detecting Condition

DTC DETECTING CONDITION CHART

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
  • Slow response - Check lambda signal amplitude
  • Leak in intake or exhaust system.
  • Faulty fuel system
  • Front and rear HO2S connections reversed.
  • Contact resistance in connectors.
  • HO2S contamination
Enable Conditions
  • Sensor tip temp. > 650°C (1202°F)
  • Forced stimulation active
  • No lambda control limitation
  • Canister saturation limited < 0.5
  • 990 < Engine speed (RPM) < 3490
  • Engine load: 240 < Mass air flow (mg/rev) < 800
  • Coolant temperature > 74°C
  • Vehicle speed > 4.82km/h (3mph)
  • Ambient pressure > 700hPa (525mmHg)
  • Current engine speed - Mean of engine speed < 600 RPM
  • Current mass air flow - Mean of mass air flow < 300 mg/rev
  • Current lambda correction mean value - Mean of lambda correction mean value < 8%
  • Downstream O2 sensor pre-heating finished
  • No relevant failure
  • 11V < Battery voltage < 16V
Threshold Value
  • Integral (Lambda signal amplitude measured/Lambda signal amplitude of a slow sensor) > Thd.
Diagnostic Time
  • 20 forced stimulation cycles
Fail Safe
  • Reset lambda adaptation and fuel trim adaptation.
  • Front HO2S heater is controlled in open loop control.
  • EVAP Emission control function is controlled in minimum operation mode
Mil On Condition
  • 2 Driving Cycles
