P2231: O2 Sensor Signal Circuit Shorted To Heater Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1): DTC Detecting Condition

DTC DETECTING CONDITION CHART

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
  • Front HO2S signal monitoring.
  • Contact resistance in connectors
  • Interference in HO2S
Enable Conditions
  • No lambda controller stop mode
  • Exhaust temperature mode > 400°C (752°F)
  • No relevant failure
  • 11V < Battery voltage < 16V
  • Amplitude of forced lambda stimulation < 0.05
  • Period time of forced lambda stimulation < 2.55 sec.
  • Stable driving condition as below

  1. Current engine speed - Mean of engine speed < 500 RPM
  2. Current mass air flow - Mean of mass air flow < 400 mg/rev
  3. Current lambda correction mean value - Mean of lambda correction mean value < 4%
Threshold Value
  • More than 50 heater coupling detected during 100 cycles of heating frequency
Diagnostic Time
  • 10 sec.
Mil On Condition
  • 2 Driving Cycles
