SERVICE INFORMATION
Some 2012 and 2013MY Rio vehicles may exhibit a fuel contamination concern interfering with fuel flow and can result in setting DTC P0087 and/or P0191, hard/difficult to start, and/or engine not continuing to run after it has started. If any of these symptoms are present, follow repair procedures below to resolve this concern.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Remove fuel pump (20A) fuse located in the engine room junction box and try to start the vehicle.
- If the engine starts, wait until it stalls itself.
- If the engine does not stall itself, shut the engine off manually.
- Disconnect the low fuel pressure line to the inlet side of the high pressure fuel pump by pushing the line toward the pump and pushing the white collar toward the line. Make sure to use a shop rag to prevent fuel spill. There is no need to remove the high pressure fuel pump .
- Inspect the inlet side of high pressure fuel pump for any "white powder" substance.
- Use Kia's "Throttle Plate & Induction Cleaner (UM040 CH010)" to spray off or dissolve any foreign substance around the area AND pour a bottle of "Techron Concentrate Plus (UM011 CH056)" into the fuel tank.
