SERVICE INFORMATION

This Pitstop provides information on how to identify head units in embedded vehicles.

Identifying an Embedded Head Unit:

Check for the 'UVO' button in the overhead console or rearview mirror, between the Integrated Virtual Assistant (IVR) "i" button and Road Side Assistant (RSA) " " button. If 'UVO' button is physically present then the vehicle is equipped with an embedded head unit.

NOTE: A 'Known Good' head unit should NEVER be used to swap between vehicles.

Swapping of Embedded Head Unit:

IMPORTANT: The head unit in these vehicles contains a modem. The modems have a unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) and unique Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) for each head unit , this 'Modem Information' can be checked in the head unit under the 'UVO' tab. This information combines with the vehicle VIN to register on the back-end server for telematics communication when the head unit first installed in the vehicle.

Under NO circumstances, should these head units be swapped between embedded vehicles. Swapping a head unit from one vehicle to another may result in non-operational UVO services on one of the vehicles and may require a head unit replacement in order to repair . If a head unit is swapped between embedded vehicles and UVO services become non-operational, please contact the UVO Call Center (844) 886-9411.

KIA does not recommend swapping embedded head units at any time . If a head unit needs to be replaced, the recommendation is to always order a replacement head unit to ensure proper UVO services operations using the new installed/replaced head unit. If the issue remains unresolved please open a Techline case.

NOTE: In case of head unit replacement, customer will not have to re-perform In-Vehicle Enrollment. The modem will automatically synchronize to the previous modem status for all 2018MY~ and later embedded vehicles.
