SERVICE INFORMATION
This bulletin provides information regarding Server-based Routing (also called Connected Routing) on all vehicles with navigation head units (AVN 5.0, AVN 5.0 Wide). Customers may also notice pop-up messages indicating their map may be unavailable or outdated. Follow the information in this bulletin to understand how server-based routing works for the navigation system.
There are two types of navigation maps available:
- Server-based Routing (Connected Routing)
- On-board Routing (offline)
- Server-based Routing (Connected Routing):
Available for users who enroll in the Kia Connect Ultimate Package
. When setting a destination, the system will use Connected Routing from the online server to find the best route. For Connected Routing to work properly, the head unit software must be up to date (within the last four (4) map updates)
.NOTE: Map Over the Air (OTA) updates are only available on certain models (Ex: 22MY EV6, 23MY Sportage).
- On-board Routing: Uses the map database stored in the head unit. The Navigation system will still work properly, but some points of interest (POIs) or business addresses may not show in a search, if they were recently added after the last map update.
"Connected Routing Unavailable" Messages:
Shown below are examples of messages indicating the map in the head unit needs updating.
- "Connected Routing will be unavailable soon due to an outdated Navigation Map"
- "Connected Routing is currently unavailable due to an outdated Navigation Map"
Vehicles without OTA Map Update Option
Vehicles with OTA Map Update Option
To continue using Connected Routing , download the latest software update* for free from the following website:

Or - Customers may choose to use On-board Routing instead of Connected Routing. To do so, the customer must check the box next to 'Deactivate this pop-up' , then select 'On-board Routing' when setting a destination.
