Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Set the front tires straight-ahead before removing the steering wheel.
    CAUTION: If the steering wheel and the front tires are not set straight ahead together, it affects the number of circulation of steering wheel and the cable inside the clock spring is possible to be damaged.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
    NOTE: After disconnecting the battery negative cable, wait for at least 30 seconds.
  3. Remove the airbag module by pushing the guide hole using a flat tip tool.

  4. Disconnect the horn connector (A) after removing the wire clip (C).
  5. Release the connector locking pin, then disconnect the driver airbag module connector (B).
    CAUTION: The removed airbag module should be stored in a clean, dry place with the pad cover facing up.

  6. Remove the steering wheel.

    (Refer to Steering System - "STEERING COLUMN AND SHAFT ")

  7. Loosen the screws and then remove the steering wheel column shroud (A).

  8. Disconnect the clock spring and horn connector (A) and then remove the clock spring.
