The PCM utilizes a Local Interconnect Network (LIN) line in conjunction with a battery sensor, the battery sensor is mounted on the negative cable of the battery. The battery sensor monitors amperage, temperature and voltage. This information is monitored by the PCM and used to determine the generator charge rate duty cycle. This system helps to maintain a constant steady voltage, which creates a stable environment for the vehicle's modules and sensors to operate within.
