Repair Procedures: Replacement

CAUTION:

Wear gloves to protect hands from injury.

Information

When removing and installing the tail gate, work in a group of two or more.

Remove the tail gate trim.
(Refer to "TAIL GATE TRIM ")
Disconnect the washer nozzle hose (A).

Disconnect the connectors (A) and tail gate wiring harness (B).
Loosen the ground bolts (C).
After loosening the mounting bolts, remove the tail gate assembly (D).
Tightening torque:

21.6~26.5 N.m (2.2~2.7 kgf.m, 15.9~19.5 lb-ft)

Using a screwdriver, lift the socket clips (A) up slightly on both ends of the tail gate lifter (B).

Install in the reverse order of removal.

Information

Make sure that the tail gate locks/unlocks and opens/closes properly.
Adjust the tail gate alignment.
Make sure that the connectors are connected properly.
Replace any damaged clips.
