Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
    NOTE: After disconnecting the negative battery terminal, wait at least 30 seconds.
  2. Cover the cluster/dash area using a large shop towel and adjust steering wheel height and pull out (telescopic) to avoid damage.
  3. Turn steering wheel to left and right to access the top two access ports (A); adjust the tab holes to access the internal pushrod release, push flathead towards steering column to release the pushrod and locking tab, then remove the airbag module (B).

  4. Disconnect the horn connector (A) and airbag module connectors (B).

    CAUTION: The removed airbag module should be stored in a clean, dry place with the pad cover facing up.
