Repair Procedures: Replacement

CAUTION: Put on gloves to prevent hand injuries.

Information 

  1. Remove the front pillar trim.

    (Refer to Interior Trim - "FRONT PILLAR TRIM ")

  2. Remove the crash pad center panel.

    (Refer to Crash Pad - "CRASH PAD CENTER PANEL ")

  3. Remove the steering wheel.

    (Refer to Steering System - "STEERING WHEEL ")

  4. Remove the steering column shroud lower panel.

    (Refer to Crash Pad - "STEERING COLUMN SHROUD PANEL ")

  5. Remove the instrument cluster.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ")

  6. Remove the audio/AVN head unit.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "AUDIO/AVN HEAD UNIT ")

  7. After loosening the mounting screws, remove the crash pad switch assembly (A).

  8. Disconnect the connector (A).

  9. Using a screwdriver or remover, remove the instrument cluster bracket (A).

  10. After loosening the mounting screws, remove the twitter speaker (A).

  11. After loosening the mounting screw, remove the side airvent duct assembly (A).

  12. Disconnect the security lamp connector (A).

  13. Loosen the mounting nuts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    7.8 - 11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  14. Loosen the mounting bolts and nuts and remove the main crash pad assembly (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    16.7 - 23.5 N.m (1.7 - 2.4 Kgf.m, 12.3 - 23.1 lb.ft)

  15. Disconnect the passenger's airbag connector (A).

  16. Disconnect the wiring mounting clips (A).

  17. To install, reverse removal procedure.

    Information 

    • Make sure the crash pad fits onto the guide pins correctly.
    • Before tightening the bolts, make sure the crash pad wire harnesses are not pinched.
    • Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the antenna lead is connected properly.
    • Make sure that each of the assembly components operates properly.
    • Replace any damaged clips (or pin-type retainers).
