Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn ignition OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Remove the Intercooler inlet hose and Intercooler inlet pipe.[G 1.6 T-GDI GAMMA only] 

    G 1.6 T-GDI GAMMA  (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM ")

  3. Disconnect the battery negative wirings (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    10.8 - 13.7 N.m (1.1 - 1.4 kgf.m, 8.0 - 10.1 lb.ft)

  4. Pull up the ESC connector lock (A) and then disconnect the connector.

  5. Disconnect the brake lines (A, B) from the ESC by unlocking the nuts counterclockwise with a wrench.

    Tightening torque: 

    A:  12.7 - 16.7 N.m (1.3 - 1.7 kgf.m, 9.4 - 12.3 lb.ft)

    B (ABS):  12.7 - 16.7 N.m (1.3 - 1.7 kgf.m, 9.4 - 12.3 lb.ft)

    B (ESC):  18.6 - 22.6 N.m (1.9 - 2.3 kgf.m, 13.7 - 16.6 lb.ft)

  6. Loosen the ESC bracket nuts, and then remove ESC control unit (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    16.7 - 25.5 N.m (1.7 - 2.6 kgf.m, 12.3 - 18.8 lb.ft)

    NOTE:
    • Never attempt to disassemble the ESC module.
    • Never drop the ESC module.
