Repair Procedures: Replacement

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  2. Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
  3. Remove the driver airbag module.

    (Refer to Restraint - "DRIVER AIRBAG (DAB) MODULE ")

  4. Disconnect the steering wheel connector (A).

  5. Loosen the bolt (A) and then remove the steering wheel (B).

    Tightening torque: 

    44.1 - 49.0 N.m (4.5 - 5.0 kgf.m, 32.5 - 36.2 lb.ft)

    NOTE:
    • When removing the steering wheel, do not impact it by hammering as it may damage the steering column.
    • Do not reuse the steering lock bolt.
    • When assembling, match the gear teeth as the below illustration.

  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
