Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING:
  • Be sure to read and follow the "GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION & CAUTION " before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
  • Be sure to shut off the high voltage circuit according to the "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUT-OFF PROCEDURE " before doing any work related with the high voltage system to avoid serious electrical injuries.
NOTE:
  • Use a coated apron, latex gloves, and stainless tray to prevent foreign substance from getting into the transaxle.
  • Maintain clean condition so that foreign substance does not get into the automatic transaxle.
  • The oil temperature sensor is integrated with the main harness and cannot be disassembled.
  1. Shut off the high voltage circuit.

    (Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUT-OFF PROCEDURE ")

  2. Remove the under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  3. Drain the coolant of engine & transaxle cooling system.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT ")

  4. Drain the coolant of hybrid motor cooling system.

    (Refer to Hybrid Motor System - "COOLANT ")

  5. Remove the hybrid power control unit (HPCU) assembly and tray.

    (Refer to Hybrid Control System - "HYBRID POWER CONTROL UNIT ")

  6. Separate the air breather hose (A).

  7. Remove the ATF drain plug (A), allow the fluid to drain out and then reinstall the drain plug.

    Tightening torque: 

    33.3 - 43.1 N.m (3.4 - 4.4 kgf.m, 24.6 - 31.8 lb.ft)

    NOTE:
    • Automatic transaxle fluid (ATF) can be reused. Collect it using a clean 10-liter beaker.
    • The existing ATF drain plug gasket must be replaced with a new one (do not reuse).
  8. Remove the ATF warmer.

    (Refer to Hydraulic System - "ATF WARMER ")

  9. Remove the valve body cover (A) by removing the bolts.

    Tightening torque: 

    12.7 - 13.7 N.m (1.3 - 1.4 kgf.m, 9.4 - 10.1 lb.ft)

  10. Remove the main harness (A) after removing the bolts.

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  11. Remove the valve body assembly (A) by removing the bolts.

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  12. Disconnect the connector (A) from solenoid valve connector module.

  13. Remove the speed sensor (A) by removing the bolts.

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)
