Lucas 13CU System (3.5L V8)

NOTE: Components are grouped into 2 categories. The first category covers INPUT DEVICES  , which control or produce voltage signals monitored by the Engine Control Module (ECM). The second category covers OUTPUT SIGNALS  , which are components controlled by the ECM.

Electronic Fuel injection system provides a reliable and efficient microprocessor controlled fuel management system. Function of system is to supply exact amount of fuel directly into inlet manifold according to prevailing engine operating conditions. To monitor these conditions, various sensors are fitted to engine to measure engine parameters. Data from sensors is received by ECM, ECM will then determine exact amount of fuel required at any condition. ECM, having received data from sensors, produces pulses, length of which will determine simultaneous open time of each bank of injectors, which will govern amount of fuel injected.

ECM is located under right front seat. ECM is a microprocessor with integrated circuits and components mounted on printed circuit boards. ECM is connected to main harness by a 40-pin connector.
