Navigation System: General

The navigation system provides computer generated audible and visual route guidance information to enable the driver to reach a desired destination. The system allows the driver to choose the desired route using minor or major roads or motorways and the quickest or shortest route. Directions to hospitals, museums, monuments and hotels are also available. The computer uses map information stored on a digital versatile disc (DVD)-ROM to determine the best route for the journey and provide the driver with details of directions and approaching junctions.

The Range Rover navigation system is a MOST based system. The navigation system provide on-road and off-road navigation capabilities with a digital versatile disc (DVD) based map system. The navigation system has the following advantages over a conventional CD based system:

The system comprises the following components:

All vehicles with navigation feature voice recognition and Traffic Message Channel (TMC) (Europe and NAS markets only) or Vehicle Information and Communication Systems (VICS) (Japan only). Enhanced navigation includes on road and off road navigation functionality.



4X4 is only available on vehicles fitted with satellite navigation and provides the driver with additional vehicle status information which is displayed on the TSD. The information provides the driver with functional information relating to the vehicle powertrain and chassis and is of most benefit when driving off-road.

The TSD displays a graphical representation of the vehicle systems to provide an easy to understand vehicle status display. The 4X4 system displays the following information:
