Retractable Running Board Module (RBM): DTCs

RETRACTABLE RUNNING BOARD MODULE (RBM) DTCs

DTC Description Possible Causes Action
C1002-77 Left Power Running Board Stow - Commanded position not reachable
  • Mechanical fault with the link
  • Output shaft torque ring slipping
Check the power side retractable running board hinge for dirt and debris, wash the step if necessary. Remove the wedge key and check the retractable running board hinge for free movement and if NOT OK renew the retractable running board hinge. If OK renew the retractable running board motor.
C1003-77 Right Power Running Board Stow - Commanded position not reachable
  • Mechanical fault with the link
  • Output shaft torque ring slipping
Check the power side retractable running board hinge for dirt and debris, wash the step if necessary. Remove the wedge key and check the retractable running board hinge for free movement and if NOT OK renew the retractable running board hinge. If OK renew the retractable running board motor.

Disconnect the retractable running board motor and the retractable running board module, check the circuit and repair/renew as necessary. Check the retractable running board motor connections for security and integrity. If faulty renew the retractable running board motor. If the wiring harness and retractable running board motor are OK, renew the retractable running board module. Refer to the warranty policy and Procedures information if the module is suspect. Clear DTCs and check for normal operation.
C1006-12 Left Power Running Board Motor - Circuit short to battery
  • Retractable running board motor stow or deploy circuit short circuit to power
  • Faulty retractable running board motor
  • Control module
Disconnect the retractable running board motor and the retractable running board module, check the circuit and repair/renew as necessary. Check the retractable running board motor connections for security and integrity. If faulty renew the retractable running board motor. If the wiring harness and retractable running board motor are OK, renew the retractable running board module. Refer to the warranty policy and Procedures information if the module is suspect. Clear DTCs and check for normal operation.
C1006-13 Left Power Running Board Motor - Circuit open

C1006-19 Left Power Running Board Motor - Circuit current above threshold
  • Retractable running board motor stow or deploy circuit current above threshold

Disconnect the retractable running board motor and the retractable running board module, check the circuit and repair/renew as necessary. Check the retractable running board motor connections for security and integrity. If faulty renew the retractable running board motor. If the wiring harness and retractable running board motor are OK, renew the retractable running board module. Refer to the warranty policy and Procedures information if the module is suspect. Clear DTCs and check for normal operation.
C1006-67 Left Power Running Board Motor - Signal incorrect after event
  • Retractable running board motor stow or deploy signal incorrect after event
  • Faulty retractable running board motor
  • Control module
Disconnect the retractable running board motor and the retractable running board module, check the circuit and repair/renew as necessary. Check the retractable running board motor connections for security and integrity. If faulty renew the retractable running board motor. If the wiring harness and retractable running board motor are OK, renew the retractable running board module. Refer to the warranty policy and Procedures information if the module is suspect. Clear DTCs and check for normal operation.
C1007-11 Right Power Running Board Motor - Circuit short to ground

C1007-67 Right Power Running Board Motor - Signal incorrect after event
  • Retractable running board motor stow or deploy signal incorrect after event
  • Faulty retractable running board motor
  • Control module
Disconnect the retractable running board motor and the retractable running board module, check the circuit and repair/renew as necessary. Check the retractable running board motor connections for security and integrity. If faulty renew the retractable running board motor. If the wiring harness and retractable running board motor are OK, renew the retractable running board module. Refer to the warranty policy and Procedures information if the module is suspect. Clear DTCs and check for normal operation.
C1008-29 Left Power Running Board Position/Motion Sensor - Signal invalid
  • Invalid signal
  • Motor hall effect sensor fault
  • Retractable running board motor fault
Connect an oscilloscope to the hall effect signal line (Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams) and cycle the retractable running board. If the hall effect pulse width is shorter than 1.5ms, then renew the retractable running board motor assembly.
C1008-3A Left Power Running Board Position/Motion Sensor - Incorrect has too many pulses
  • Output shaft torque ring slipping
Check the power side retractable running board hinge for dirt and debris, wash the step if necessary. Remove the wedge key and check the retractable running board hinge for free movement and if NOT OK renew the retractable running board hinge. If OK renew the retractable running board motor.
C1008-93 Left Power Running Board Position/Motion Sensor - No operation
  • Retractable running board motor fault
Renew the motor, clear DTCs and check for normal operation.
C1009-29 Right Power Running Board Position/Motion Sensor - Signal invalid
  • Invalid signal
  • Motor hall effect sensor fault
  • Retractable running board motor fault
Connect an oscilloscope to the hall effect signal line (Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams) and cycle the retractable running board. If the hall effect pulse width is shorter than 1.5ms, then renew the retractable running board motor assembly.
C1009-3A Right Power Running Board Position/Motion Sensor - Incorrect has too many pulses

Check the power side retractable running board hinge for dirt and debris, wash the step if necessary. Remove the wedge key and check the retractable running board hinge for free movement and if NOT OK renew the retractable running board hinge. If OK renew the retractable running board motor.
C1009-93 Right Power Running Board Position/Motion Sensor - No operation
  • Retractable running board motor fault
Renew the motor, clear DTCs and check for normal operation.
C1B14-11 Sensor Supply Voltage A - Circuit short to ground
  • Retractable running board motor hall effect sensor power circuit short to ground
  • Retractable running board motor fault
  • Control module
Disconnect the motor and check the voltage on the hall effect sensor line (Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams), if OK renew the retractable running board motor. If not check harness for short or open circuit and repair/renew as necessary. If OK renew the retractable running board module. Refer to the warranty policy and Procedures information if the module is suspect.
C1B14-12 Sensor Supply Voltage A - Circuit short to battery
  • Retractable running board motor hall effect sensor power circuit short to power
Remove the ignition key, close the doors and wait 5 minutes for the vehicle to enter into sleep mode. Disconnect the retractable running board motor from vehicle harness and ensure the vehicle has remained in sleep mode. Measure the voltage between the hall effect sensor supply line and ground. If voltage is present repair/renew as necessary. If voltage is not present, check the retractable running board motor harness for short to power. If found repair/renew as necessary or renew the retractable running board motor.
U0010-88 Medium Speed CAN Communication Bus - Bus off
  • Bus off
Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the power and ground connections to the module. Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, complete a CAN network integrity test. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the CAN network.
U0121-68 Lost Communication With Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module - Event information
  • Incorrect signal received
Check the Anti-Lock Brake System Control Module for related DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the power and ground connections to the module. Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, complete a CAN network integrity test. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the CAN network between the Anti-Lock Brake System Control Module and Retractable Running Board Control Module.
U0140-00 Lost Communication With Body Control Module - No sub type information
  • CAN harness link between Retractable Running Board Control Module and Body Control Module network malfunction
  • Retractable Running Board Control Module has not received the expected CAN signal from the Body Control Module within the specified time interval
Check the Body Control Module for related DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the power and ground connections to the module. Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, complete a CAN network integrity test. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the CAN network between the Body Control Module and Retractable Running Board Control Module.
U0300-00 Internal Control Module Software Incompatibility - No sub type information
  • Incorrect control module installed
Check that the correct module is installed to the vehicle. Check the module software level and install the latest version in necessary. Refer to the warranty and policy and Procedures information if a retractable running board module is suspect.
U0439-68 Invalid Data Received From All Terrain Control Module - Event information
  • Incorrect signal received
Check the All Terrain Control Module for related DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index.
U1001-23 Switch Pack - Switch Circuit - Signal stuck low
  • Switch stuck
  • Switch circuit short circuit to ground
Check the switch operation. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the switch circuit. Repair/renew as necessary.
U1002-11 Switch Pack - Status Indicator Circuit - Circuit short to ground
  • Switch circuit short circuit to ground (switch LED remains illuminated)
Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the switch LED circuit. Repair/renew as necessary.
U1002-12 Switch Pack - Status Indicator Circuit - Circuit short to battery
  • Switch circuit short circuit to power (switch LED remains illuminated)
Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the switch LED circuit. Repair/renew as necessary.
U2101-00 Control Module Configuration Incompatible - No sub type information
  • No sub type information
Using the manufacturers approved diagnostic system, check the set-up of the car configuration file and the software version of the control module.
U3000-41 Control Module - General checksum failure
  • Retractable running board module RAM fault (data memory failure leading to possible corrupt local configuration file)
Configure the module using the approved diagnostic system and download the local configuration file. Clear the DTC and retest. If the problem persists, renew the module. Refer to the warranty policy and Procedures information if a module is suspect.
U3000-49 Control Module - Internal electronic failure
  • Internal electronic failure
Renew the module. Refer to the warranty policy and Procedures information if a module is suspect.
U3000-52 Control Module - Not activated
  • Module not activated
Using the manufacturers approved diagnostic system, check the set-up of the car configuration file and correct/activate as necessary.
U3003-16 Battery Voltage - Circuit voltage below threshold
  • Battery voltage below threshold (8 volts)
Check vehicle battery and charging system. Refer to the relevant instructions in the workshop information. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the power supply circuits to the module.
U3003-17 Battery Voltage - Circuit voltage above threshold
  • Battery voltage above threshold
Check vehicle battery and charging system. Refer to the relevant instructions in the workshop information. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the power supply circuits to the module.
U3003-62 Battery Voltage - Signal compare failure
  • Battery voltage signal compare failure
Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the power and ground circuits to the control module. Clear the DTC and retest. If the problem persists, renew the module. Refer to the warranty policy and Procedures information if a module is suspect.
