ISSUE

A recently launched Technical Service Bulletin LTB00347 INTERMITTENT ENGINE MIL / DTC P003C / P003E STORED describes the diagnosis and repair process for the concern. In some cases it has been noted that the oil restrictor(s) are a loose fit, when inserted into the cylinder head.

CAUSE

The dimensions of the oil restrictor may be at the lower end of the tolerance band.

ACTION

If the diagnostic path leads to oil restrictor replacement, it should be noted that the oil restrictor(s) should be of a slight interference fit during insertion. If they appear to be a loose fit, then they should not be fitted and a further restrictor(s) should be ordered and checked for correct fitment and location.

A note to this affect will be included in the TSB in the near future.
