ISSUE
The Remote Function Actuator (RFA) also known as the Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM), may fail to correctly download software on occasions. This can result in SDD reporting that the RFA is Off Bus by displaying a RED cross in the networks integrity screen and SDD not being able to recover the module.
CAUSE
This may be as a result of low battery voltage or a break in continuity of diagnostic connection during the download or a corrupted software download file.
ACTION
Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) now has the ability to recover the RFA, this runs in the background from DVD137 P7 onwards & will help to recover the (RFA) where a download has previously failed.
To be able to recover a failed RFA please follow Recommendations below:
- Navigate to RFA (KVM) module programming though SDD.
- Program the RFA as new module.
- At the start of the Software Download process, where SDD displays "Starting SWDL Job" before pressing continue remove Fuse 17 from the Body Control Module (BCM) also known as the (CJB).
- Then press continue and within 10s of pressing continue refit the fuse.NOTE: you are able to refit the fuse anywhere within the 10 second window to complete this process.
- If successful, SDD will continue with the Software Download process.
- If not successful the first time, repeat the above process again until successful.NOTE: Modules returned for this issue and found to recover when tested may be returned as No Fault Found (NFF)&accounts debited accordingly.
