Symptom Chart

SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSES ACTION
Speed control inoperative
  • Adaptive speed control module power or ground circuit open circuit, high resistance
  • Steering wheel switchpack speed control switch stuck active
  • Steering wheel switchpack speed control switch circuit short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
  • Brake pedal switch installed or adjusted incorrectly
  • Engine system fault
  • Anti-lock brake system fault
  • Brake pedal switch circuit short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagram and check the adaptive speed control module power and ground circuits for open circuit, high resistance
  • Check the steering wheel switchpack speed control switches for sticking
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagram and check the steering wheel switchpack speed control switch circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
  • Check the brake pedal switch for correct installation and adjustment
  • Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, check the engine control module for related DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index
  • Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, check the anti-lock brake system control module for related DTCs and refer to the relevant DTC index
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagram and check the brake pedal switch circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
Unable to regulate/adjust the vehicle speed
  • Steering wheel switchpack failure
  • Check the steering wheel switchpack speed control switches for sticking. Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagram and check the steering wheel switchpack speed control switch circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
Unable to cancel speed control using the steering wheel switchpack
  • Steering wheel switchpack failure
  • Check the steering wheel switchpack speed control switches for sticking. Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagram and check the steering wheel switchpack speed control switch circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
Unable to cancel speed control using the brake pedal
  • Brake pedal switch installed or adjusted incorrectly
  • Brake pedal switch circuit short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
  • Check the brake pedal switch for correct installation and adjustment
  • Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagram and check the brake pedal switch circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
