CONDITION SUMMARY
Situation: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P144C (Evaporative Emission System Purge Flow Performance During Boost), stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM), cannot be cleared, resulting in the need to replace the ECM to resolve concern.
Cause: This may be caused by a software error. After a hard fault has been repaired, DTC P144C can be cleared but will return after/during a test drive. The last adaptive results that the diagnostic makes the failure judgement on are being stored in the ECM permanent memory. On the next drive cycle these are compared and as the stored results cannot be cleared, results in a 'fail' of the diagnostic again.
Action: In the event of a customer concern of the above, follow the Service Instruction outlined below.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION

CAUTION: A Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS/SDD diagnosis/module programming.NOTE: IDS must be loaded with DVD134.03 v.135 or later.
Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the vehicle battery.
- Connect SDD to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session, by reading the VIN for the current vehicle and initiating the data collect sequence.
- Follow the SDD prompts.NOTE: Engine Control Module (ECM) may also be known as Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Turn ignition 'ON' (engine not running).
- Connect the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.
- Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle and initiating the data collect sequence.
- Select 'Diagnosis' from the Session Type screen.
- Select the 'Selected Symptoms' tab, and then select the following:
- Electrical - Instruments - Warning lamps - Lamp illuminated
- Select 'continue'.
- Select the 'Recommendations' tab.

NOTE: Engine Control Module (ECM) may also be known as Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
From the Recommendations tab, select 'Run' to perform the 'Configure existing module - Powertrain control module' option.
- Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.
- Exit the current session.
- Disconnect the IDS and the battery power supply from the vehicle.
