CONDITION SUMMARY

Situation:  Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P144C (Evaporative Emission System Purge Flow Performance During Boost), stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM), cannot be cleared, resulting in the need to replace the ECM to resolve concern.

Cause:  This may be caused by a software error. After a hard fault has been repaired, DTC P144C can be cleared but will return after/during a test drive. The last adaptive results that the diagnostic makes the failure judgement on are being stored in the ECM permanent memory. On the next drive cycle these are compared and as the stored results cannot be cleared, results in a 'fail' of the diagnostic again.

Action:  In the event of a customer concern of the above, follow the Service Instruction outlined below.
