CONDITION SUMMARY

Situation:  A Customer may express a concern that one or more of the following may occur:

This version has been issued for a change to the SRO information. 

Cause:  A potential cause of the concern may be terminal block C44-R2.

Suggested Customer Concern Code - JV1. 

Action:  If during diagnosis of the concern terminal block C44-R2 is suspected to have poor continuity follow the service instruction outlined below otherwise continue with diagnosis with reference to Symptom Driven Diagnostics and TOPIx

NOTE: Not all 4 terminals may require replacing. Only use the quantity of terminals required for the repair.

CONNECTOR TEST

  1. With the connector in a vertical position install a terminal from the terminal repair kit.

  2. Hold the terminal and support the weight of the connector and harness.
    • If the terminal holds in the connector the terminal is good.
    • If the terminal separates from the connector the terminal in the connector requires replacing.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION

All vehicles 

CAUTION: Use a suitable trim tool to release the trim panels.
NOTE: Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE: Some components shown removed for clarity.
  1. Remove the Sun Visor (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 501-05).
    NOTE: The procedure must be carried out on both sides.
  2. Remove the A-pillar trim panel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 501-05).
    NOTE: The procedure must be carried out on both sides.
  3. Remove the B-pillar trim panel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 501-05).
    NOTE: The procedure must be carried out on both sides.
  4. Remove the C-pillar trim panel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 501-05).
    NOTE: The procedure must be carried out on both sides.
  5. Remove the D-pillar trim panel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 501-05).
  6. Remove the overhead console (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 501-12).
    NOTE: Note the orientation of the seal prior to detaching.
  7. Reposition the tailgate seal.

  8. Remove the roof handle and position the front door seal to one side.
    • Torque: 6 Nm

  9. Remove the roof handle and position the rear door seal to one side.
    • Torque: 6 Nm

  10. Remove the interior lamp cover.

  11. Remove the interior lamp cover retaining bolt.
    • Torque: 6 Nm

    NOTE: If equipped.
  12. Remove the roof air vents.

  13. Remove the roof air vent fixings.
    • Torque: 6 Nm

    CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the component.
    NOTE: The step must be carried out on both sides.
    NOTE: If equipped.
  14. Detatch the headliner retainers as illustrated.

    CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the component.
    CAUTION: Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the magnetic fixings.
    CAUTION: Make sure that there is at least 50mm clearance between the magnetic fixings and the headliner during the removal procedure. The fixings will engage if too close to each other.
  15. Remove the headliner retaining clips as shown.

  16. Remove the headliner retaining clips as illustrated.

    CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the component.
  17. Lower the headliner.

  18. Disconnect the electrical connector C44R2 from C44R1.

  19. Remove the terminals in positions 10,17,18 and 21. Complete a check on the connector C44R1/2 as per the 'connector test'. If the connector fails the test continue to Step 20. If the connector passes the test complete a continuity test across the connector. If the joint has good continuity then continue with further diagnosis with reference to TOPIx and the JLR approved diagnostic tool.
    CAUTION: To reduce the chance of incorrect wiring of the harness wherever possible only repair one wire at a time.
  20. Carry out the wiring repair (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 418-02). Remove any terminals found to be faulty by diagnosis and install a new terminal as required (41841145). Make sure a sufficient length of wire is left on the electrical harness so the new terminal can be installed correctly using the recommended splice connector (418107). Make sure the correct black identification sleeve (418112) is fitted to the new terminal.

  21. Remove the terminals in positions 9,10, 21 and 22. Complete a check on the connector C44R1/2 as per the 'connector test'. If the connector fails the test continue to Step  20. If the connector passes the test complete a continuity test across the connector. If the joint has good continuity then continue with further diagnosis with reference to TOPIx and the JLR approved diagnostic tool.
    CAUTION: To reduce the chance of incorrect wiring of the harness wherever possible only repair one wire at a time.
  22. Carry out the wiring repair (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 418-02). Remove any terminals found to be faulty by diagnosis and install a new terminal as required (41841145).   23. Install connector C44-R2 and check for correct continuity across the connector before continuing.
  24. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
