Telescopic Position Sensor Circuit

  1. Remove tilt and telescopic control module. Remove telescopic position sensor with harness connector still connected. Manually slide telescopic position sensor lever to fully extended position. Measure voltage between tilt and telescopic control module control module connector T10, terminals No. 5 and No. 6. See Figure.
  2. Manually slide telescopic position sensor lever to fully retracted position. Voltage should decrease as lever is moved from extended position to retracted position. If voltage is 4-6 volts with lever in fully extended position and operation is as specified, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING  and identify next circuit to be checked. If voltage not is 4-6 volts with lever in fully extended position or operation is not as specified, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect telescopic position sensor connector. Measure resistance between telescopic position sensor connector terminals No. 1 and No. 5. See Fig 1. If resistance is 3500-6500 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 3500-6500 ohms, replace telescopic position sensor and recheck system.
  4. Manually slide telescopic position sensor lever to fully retracted position. Resistance should increase as lever is moved from fully retracted to fully extended position. Measure resistance between telescopic position sensor connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. If resistance is 3500-8500 ohms in fully extended position and operation is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not 3500-8500 ohms in fully extended position or operation is not as specified, replace tilt position sensor and recheck system.
  5. Check and repair wiring harness and connectors between tilt and telescopic control module and telescopic position sensor connector. If wiring harness and connectors are okay, replace tilt and telescopic control module and recheck system.
