Automatic Light Control System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Trouble shooting of the automatic light control system MUST begin with the multiplex communication system. See MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS - AVALON article under COMMUNICATION DEVICES in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. The multiplex system monitors the automatic light control sensor and circuit, as well as, other switches to ensure proper operation of the automatic light control system.
  2. If the multiplex communication system is functioning properly and no diagnostic trouble codes are stored, physical observation of the automatic light control system can be performed to determine operational status of the system. See AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM BASIC INSPECTION  under SYSTEM TESTS.
