VVT Sensor: Inspection
- REMOVE V-BANK COVER
- VVT Sensor (Bank 2): REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
- VVT Sensor (Bank 1): DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE PROTECTOR FROM UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD AND BEARING CAP
- Remove the No. 3 V-bank cover bracket.
- Disconnect the EVAP hose from VSV for EVAP.
- Remove the VSV for EVAP from upper intake manifold.
- Remove the No. 2 V-bank cover bracket from upper intake manifold.
- Disconnect the PCV hose from upper intake manifold.
- Remove the 4 bolts, and disconnect the engine wire protector from the upper intake manifold and camshaft bearing cap.
- INSPECT VVT SENSOR RESISTANCE NOTE: "Cold" and "Hot in these sentences express the temperature of the sensors themselves. "Cold" is from -10 °C (14°F) to 50°C (122°F) and "Hot" is from 50°C (122°F) to 100°C (212°F).
- Disconnect the VVT sensor connectors.
- Using a ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals.
Resistance:
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.
- Reconnect the VVT sensor connectors.
- VVT Sensor (Bank 1): REINSTALL ENGINE WIRE PROTECTOR TO UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD AND BEARING CAP
- VVT Sensor (Bank 2): REINSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
