Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Check that the brake warning light comes on when the parking brake is applied and goes off when it is released.

      OK: The brake warning light operates as specified above. 

      OK:  Go to step  3

      NG: Go to Next Step 

  2. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SWITCH

    1. Disconnect the P4 switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      PARKING BRAKE SWITCH

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      P4-1 - Switch body ON (When shaft is not pressed) Below 1 Ω
      P4-1 - Switch body OFF (When shaft is pressed) 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPLACE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - PARKING BRAKE SWITCH)

    1. Disconnect the M21 display connector.
    2. Disconnect the P4 switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      MULTI-DISPLAY - PARKING BRAKE SWITCH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M21-8 (PKB) - P4-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      M21-8 (PKB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
