How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

• Use the following procedures to troubleshoot the pre-collision system.
• The intelligent tester should be used in steps  2,  3 and  5.

1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
2. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
   1. Use the intelligent tester to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.
      1. Perform bus check (Communication malfunctioning DTC).
      2. Perform bus check (Communication Bus check). Result

         DTC Condition	Proceed to
         DTC is not output	A
         DTC is output	B (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

   B: GO TO  CAN COMMUNICATION -- ES350 

   A: Go to next step. 

3. CHECK FOR DTC 
   1. Check for DTCs.
      1. Record the DTCs.
   2. Clear the DTCs.
   3. Recheck for DTCs.
      1. Attempt to duplicate the malfunction and check if the DTCs are output again (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

         DTC is not output	A
         DTC is output	B (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  )
         No DTC is output, and malfunction cannot be duplicated or checked	C (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

   B: GO TO DTC CHART 

   C: SYMPTOM SIMULATION 

   A: Go to next step. 

4. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
   1. If the result is not listed on the problem symptoms table, proceed to A.
   2. If the result is listed on the problem symptoms table, proceed to B.

   B: GO TO STEP  7

   A: Go to next step. 

5. OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING 
   1. See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  .
   2. See TERMINALS OF ECU  .
6. ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE 
7. CONFIRMATION TEST
