Automatic Transaxle - A760H: Removal: Notes

CAUTION: When working with FIPG material, perform the following:
  • Using a gasket scraper, remove all the old FIPG material from the gasket surfaces.
  • Thoroughly clean all components to remove any loose material.
  • Clean both sealing surface with a non-residue solvent.
  • Apply FIPG in a continuous line (width approximately 1 mm (0.04 in.)) along the sealing surface.
  • Parts must be assembled within 10 minutes of application. Otherwise, the FIPG material must be removed and reapplied.
  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  3. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE NO.1 SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  4. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE: Some fluid will remain in the oil pan.
    1. Remove the 20 bolts, oil pan and gasket.

    2. Remove the 6 magnets from the oil pan.
    3. Examine particles in the pan.
      1. Remove the magnets and use them to collect steel particles. Carefully look at the foreign matter and particles in the pan and on the magnets to anticipate the type of wear which might be found in the transmission.

        Steel (magnetic) ... bearing, gear and clutch plate wear

        Brass (non-magnetic)... bushing wear

  5. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and oil strainer.
      NOTE: Be careful as some fluid will come out of the oil strainer.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the oil strainer.

  6. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt and lock plate, and separate the ATF temperature sensor.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 clamps.
    3. Separate the 9 connectors from the solenoid valves.

  7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
    2. Remove the bolt and pull out the transmission wire.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the transmission wire.
